Here you can see the process from start to finish:
1. Drawing over photo to catch the features etc.
2. Adding simple shadows as a base.
3. Paper overlay texture, more shadows, values, starting to add details and working on skin.
4. More details like hair and facial hairs.
5. Removing lineart, more details in hair, finishing touches, contrast, minor background work and colour change.

This is a drawing of my pandaren priest from World of Warcraft.

Started of as a simple sketch in my sketch book but ended up working longer on it because.. it's a panda!.
I haven't scanned in anything for ages so I thought it was about time to do that and then I edited it digitally in Sai and PS to improve the lines, contrast, minor fixes and background etc
